Pezeshkian made the comment on Tuesday during a meeting with Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz, the special envoy of the Saudi king, who took part in the Iranian president’s inauguration earlier in the day.
The Saudi envoy said on his part that the kingdom’s leaders are interested in developing ties with Iran, and they believe that the China-brokered agreement that restored Tehran-Riyadh relations protects both regional and global interests.
Pezeshkian meets Egyptian FM
The Iranian president also held a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati who attended his inauguration earlier on Tuesday.
Pezeshkian said that the two countries can cooperate with each other to help resolve regional problems.
Abdel Ati conveyed warm greetings of the Egyptian president to Pezeshkian, saying that normalization of ties between the two countries is going ahead, and expressed hope that the sides can begin their cooperation as soon as possible.
Iran, Egypt FMs discuss ties
Separately, Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani held talks with Abdel Ati and discussed regional and international issues.
Referring to the sensitivity of the regional situation in the face of ongoing crimes by the Zionist regime against the defenseless Palestinians in Gaza, Bagheri Kani stressed the need for consultation and cooperation between major Islamic countries, especially Iran and Egypt, to deal with challenges and threats.
He welcomed and appreciated Abdel Ati's visit to Tehran and wished him success in his new responsibility as Egypt’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Bagheri Kani also hailed Egypt for its respect and the presence of two Egyptian foreign ministers in Tehran during the past two months to participate in two different events, including the funeral ceremony of martyred Iranian president and foreign minister
“We know about Egypt's serious will and valuable effort to follow the process in developing relations between the two countries”, he said, adding that friendly relations with Egypt are in line with the neighborhood policy and its consolidation, and this policy will not change with the change of governments.
The top Egyptian diplomat also expressed his satisfaction with his trip to Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president, and expressed his condolences for the loss former President and Foreign Minister.
Abdel Ati made his current trip to Tehran on the order of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. He described it as a sign of Egypt's special efforts and determination to pursue the promotion and deepening of relations between Cairo and Tehran in line with the interests of the two countries and civilized nations.
